Sujet de thèse : Territorial governance in a territory of multiple meanings: the construction of the protagonism of family farmers and rural social organisations in the Planalto Santareno

My thesis project proposal is to analyze the role of family farmers organizations and families and agribusiness in the construction of territorial governance of the Planalto Santareno. The territory of the Planalto Santareno is formed by a plateau of firm and highlands, a place of great agricultural potential located in the municipalities of Santarém, Belterra and Mojuí dos Campos, in western Pará. This is a territory of expansion of the agribusiness agricultural frontier. However, this expansion is not free of social and environmental conflicts, since this region is occupied by traditional populations, indigenous, quilombolas and settled families. In the territory there is confrontation between the narratives of family farming and agribusiness. This dispute is expressed in the process of building territorial governance of the Planalto Santareno. To investigate the role of narratives, the research will be conducted through the theoretical and conceptual axes of political ecology, territorial governance, and rural development, and has as its methodological principle the co-construction of knowledge.
